NORTHERN SENEGAL

We will drive through the sub-Saharan areas in the north of the country, sandy tracks where the old Rally Paris-Dakar used to run. We will go into areas inhabited by semi-nomadic populations ending up on the beaches of Senegal. Duration of the trip 6-7 days (4-5 days of routes with vehicle)

NORTHERN SENEGAL: 5 DAYS

Day 1 : Flight to Dakar. Pick up at the airport and transfer to Saly (40 min). Overnight in a good hotel.

Day 2 : Saly - Koba. Stage of 180 km. After breakfast and inspection of the vehicles we will start the route by tracks towards the north, soon we will enter in Ferlo desert and the tracks will be transformed into sandy and little trafficked tracks, most of them only by donkey carts. The landscape is full of Baobabs and small semi-nomadic villages. Night in a picturesque campsite in the middle of acacias and white sand.

Day 3 : Koba - Podor. 265 km long stage, very open and fun. This is one of the queen stages where we will ride through very open and sandy spaces with a lot of navigation. Arrival at the village of Podor on the Senegal River. Night in a very cozy hotel.

Day 4 : Podor - Langue de Barbarie . Stage of 255 km. We will continue on open and sandy tracks of the Sahel surrounded by acacias and baobabs. This stage is again very navigable until we reach the Langue de Barbariel. Night in a beautiful hotel on the banks of the Senegal River and overlooking the sea.

Day 5: Langue de Barbarie - Lompoul. Stage of 140 km. At mid-morning we will leave by small roads that will be more and more sandy until we reach a small sea of dunes where we will sleep in a very good camp of haimas in the middle of the sand.

Day 6 : Lompoul - Lac Rose - Saly. 110 km stage. We will go out through the dunes until we reach the sea and with the low tide we will do 90 km on the beach until we reach the Lac Rose (last stage of the old Rally Paris-Dakar). Here we will put end to our route and a transport will lead us to the hotel in Saly.

Day 7 : Saly - Airport. In the morning last chance for shopping or enjoy a well deserved rest. In the afternoon transfer to the airport.

Day 1: Flight to Dakar airport. Pick up at the airport and transfer to the hotel in Saly (40 min).

Day 2: Saly - Koba. After breakfast and inspection of the vehicles, we will start the day on tracks towards the north. Soon we will get into Ferlo desert and the tracks will become sandy and not very busy, most of them only by donkey carts. The landscape is full of Baobabs and small semi-nomadic villages. Night in a picturesque campsite in the middle of acacias and white sand.

Day 3: Koba - Langue de Barbarie . Stage of 240 km. Very open and fun stage where we will navigate on sandy tracks among acacias. The route crosses small villages located in the large extensions of the Sahel. Arrival to Langue de Barbarie where we will spend the night in a good hotel on the banks of the Senegal river and overlooking the sea.

Day 4: Langue de Barbarie - Lompoul. 140 km stage, where we will meet again the tracks of Ferlo desert. Each time the tracks get more and more sandy until we reach a small sea of dunes where we will sleep in a very good camp.

Day 5: Lompoul - Lac Rose - Saly. Stage of 110 km. With the low tide we will go down the beach to Lac Rose (90 km), the last stage of the former Rally Paris Dakar. This will be the end of our route and after we leave the vehicles we will go back to Saly.

Day 6: Saly - Airport. Last day to rest, do some last shopping or simply walk around. In the afternoon transfer to the airport and flight.
